Abstract | This report, authored by Graeme Atherton, examines how universities who are seen as leading internationally and/or in their own national contexts are supporting greater access and success for learners from low-income and other marginalised groups. What can English universities learn from global institutions? By looking at how they work with schools, learners and parents prior to HE [higher education] entry, the financial support offered, the strategic commitment of institutions, and, crucially, how they support low-income learners when they enter HE, it is hoped that this report will be a resource for those in the UK concerned about this agenda. This report is published alongside an impact brief which looks at the specific impact of COVID-19 on university access around the world.
